PetSafe’s drum box: it turns to sift clumps into a sealed waste box, takes any litter, and reports weight and visits to an app. It is the most expensive PetSafe here and the only one that is litter-agnostic.
The bottom line The PetSafe to buy if you want a drum and a sealed waste box without giving up your litter. It costs noticeably more than the rake models, and what you get for the difference is capacity, a seal, and per-cat weight data.
A rotating drum. The cat uses it, the drum turns, and the clumps are sifted out into a sealed waste box while clean litter falls back. PetSafe calls the mechanism SmartSpin and states it is compatible with any litter, which sets it apart from both of the rake ScoopFrees above and from most of the drum boxes below.
An open waste bin lets odour out every time the machine cycles. A sealed box does not, and in a one-room flat or a bathroom that difference is the product. It is also why the interval PetSafe quotes — up to two weeks — is realistic rather than optimistic: the limit is capacity, not smell.
Weight and usage, per visit, on a phone. That is genuinely more useful than the visit counter on the Ultra, because a weight that drifts is visible in a way that a count is not. It is still a set of numbers about an animal, not an opinion about its health — if something in the graph worries you, the next step is a vet, not the app.
A drum needs a level floor and rather more space than a tray. Measure the footprint against where the box will actually live, not against where you imagine it going, and leave room to slide the waste box out from underneath.

PetSafe states the SmartSpin is compatible with any litter, which is unusual in this family — most drum boxes exclude crystal, and several exclude plant-based types. It is still worth checking the manual for your specific bag before switching, because "any" in marketing copy and "any" in a manual are not always the same list.
It is PetSafe’s own comparison against a traditional litter box, published in the product listing. We report it as their claim rather than as a measurement, because no independent figure accompanies it.
PetSafe states up to two weeks of automatic cleaning. As with every box on this page, that figure assumes one cat; a second cat roughly halves it, and a third makes the waste box the limit rather than the litter.
